Babylist is looking for a Merchandising leader to own merchandising strategy and inventory management for the Babylist Store. This person will lead by setting top-down financial targets, conducting pricing and assortment gap analyses, and translating company wide goals into actionable category specific goals for the merchandising, planning, and inventory management teams. This leader will also coach and develop the ecommerce team - blending category management best practices from traditional retail with the data driven speed and nimbleness of a start-up.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop strategic plans which will require nuanced, category-level strategies that focus on optimizing assortment, merchandising, and pricing
  • Manage your talented, ambitious team. We need a leader who can develop raw talent and utilize personnel effectively to drive initiatives forward
  • Build relationships with, negotiate with, and influence vendors, which in turn creates long lasting partnerships with suppliers
  • Assess performance with regular analytical deep-dives into performance to identify what is and is not working and then pivoting accordingly
  • Leverage Babylist’s unique consumer behavior and purchase data to spot opportunities to expand and optimize the store’s assortment - brands, products, price points, and categories

How You'll do it

  • Drive data insights into action and guide strategic planning
  • Develop strategic points of view, build plans, execute and drive profitable growth
  • Collaborate with key cross-functional senior stakeholders in pricing, product, site merchandising, operations, marketing, and inventory to drive merchandising strategy
  • Improve profits through strategic supplier relationship management, ensuring we are competitive in the marketplace on pricing/economics
  • Direct catalogue expansion, including identifying selection gaps, prioritizing new vendor relationships and building direct relationships with key suppliers
  • Develop the ecommerce merchandising, planning, and buying team at Babylist

What You’ve Done

  • 7 to 15 years relevant experience, preferably in management consulting or e-commerce merchandising
  • Proven track record of hiring and leading teams, taking ownership and driving results
  • Ability to develop and articulate strategy and perform tactically
  • Passion for large data sets to drive strategic insights
  • Versatile performer, capable of adapting as data-led insights evolve
  • Ability to multi-task and work well within a dynamic organization
  • Prior experience in a high performance, fast-paced industry
  • Comfortable in technology-driven business environment
